Article Processing Charge
When Is the APC Payable?
The APC is charged only after a manuscript has successfully completed editorial screening, independent peer review, required revisions, and has received a formal acceptance decision. Authors do not pay an APC for manuscripts that are rejected.
Payment of the APC does not influence reviewer selection, reviewer recommendations, editorial assessment, or the final decision. Paying the APC does not guarantee acceptance or publication.
Why Does JHNR Charge an APC?
JHNR does not receive subscription income from readers. The APC supports the professional services and digital infrastructure required to evaluate, prepare, publish, disseminate, and preserve an open-access article. The charge is applied per accepted article, not per author.
Editorial Workflow Management
Administrative screening, editor assignment, peer-review coordination, revision tracking, decision documentation, and communication throughout the editorial process.
Publication-Ethics Checks
Similarity screening, research-ethics administration, authorship and conflict-of-interest documentation, and management of corrections or other post-publication concerns.
Copyediting and Quality Control
Technical copyediting, consistency checks, reference review, proofreading coordination, and final quality control before publication.
Typesetting and Article Production
Professional article layout, PDF preparation, placement of publication information, author proofing, and production of the final version of record.
DOI and Metadata Services
DOI registration and maintenance through Crossref, preparation and correction of article metadata, reference linking, and discoverability support.
Hosting, Access, and Preservation
OJS maintenance, secure hosting, website operation, backups, digital availability, long-term access, and dissemination to scholarly discovery services.
What the APC Does Not Purchase
The APC is not a payment for a favourable review, accelerated acceptance, guaranteed publication, citation, indexing outcome, or editorial endorsement. Scientific merit, relevance to the journal's scope, research integrity, and satisfactory responses to peer-review comments remain the basis of every editorial decision.
Partial Waiver Policy
JHNR recognizes that some authors may have limited access to publication funding. Eligible authors may request a partial waiver of up to 25%, subject to editorial review and available journal resources.
Requests may be considered for unfunded researchers, students, or authors experiencing documented financial hardship. Waiver requests are assessed separately from the scientific evaluation and do not influence peer review or the editorial decision.
Invoice and Payment Information
The journal will provide payment instructions after formal acceptance. Authors should make payment only through the account specified in the official journal invoice. For questions about invoices, payment confirmation, or partial-waiver requests, contact the journal administration.
