PKM Exploration of Shibori Technique and Lontara Script Motifs on T-Shirts for Guidance Studio in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia

Abstract

This community service activity aimed to introduce Indonesian cultural wealth in the form of Lontara script motifs and how to apply motifs to T-shirts using the shibori technique at the Guidance Studio, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The partner's problems include only recognizing batik motifs as one of Indonesia's cultural heritages, even though there are many other motifs that are the wealth of Indonesia such as the Lontara script motif. Therefore, the service team offered a solution to show and provided additional knowledge related to the Lontara Aksara motif on fabrics and clothing. The method of implementing this service used counseling and direct practice. The Kuala Lumpur Guidance Studio group was given material about the richness of Indonesian culture, one of which was the Lontara script motif and a demonstration of making Lontara script motifs on T-shirts using the shibori technique. This activity received a very good response from the participants and the local government. The service team introduced the richness of Indonesian culture in the form of script motifs that are created in innovative textile crafts.
